Social Justice Social Justice and Service
By weaving together our time and talents, we do our part to cultivate a more humane world for all. Our "faith in humanity" inspires us with a vision of a world where every person has an opportunity to claim the full capacity of his or her human spirit.
We express our gratitude for the gifts of social prosperity that we enjoy by widening the circle of peace and prosperity to people deprived of opportunities for developing their own natural gifts and talents.
We are concerned with all people in crisis, all people without political rights, and all people who lack opportunities for education and health.
We believe that the lasting meaning of our lives is determined by our contributions to improving the ethical quality of civilization and that in each generation we face political challenges that determine the direction of human society. Therefore, we make our community an instrument for positive change. We devote significant time and energy to making a difference in the world through projects on hunger and homelessness, peace, human rights, and ecology.
Senior Leader Amanda Poppei testified before DC City Council in support of marriage equality...read her testimony! The Washington Ethical Society has long stood in support of LGBT rights, performing same-sex marriages and welcoming all kinds of families. Join us on Sunday morning and see what it means to be in a religious community where we believe in the inherent worth of all people.
